    Hey Doug

I had an informal interview today, at least I thought it was informal. His interview style and questions led me to give very relaxed answers and on retrospect maybe my preparation was a bit off. I feel that he lured me into a false sense of security or maybe he was just in the holiday spirit. It was more like meeting someone in a pub and then at the end he asked me what I thought about the interview. I was thinking to myself that if I give him an honest answer then I will blow it. I came out of the interview very confused. Either he was very skilled interviewer or just lame.

    What do you think?

    Cheers
    Jeff

BTW – I was interviewing for a job at consulting firm

Jeff, funny that, I had a similar experience today where I think the interview questions were tough and my answers were off. We met in a hotel lobby and I think I misconstrued the environment as being conducive to an informal interview! My interview preparation was definitely sub standard. I need to get better at that.

Hi guys, in recent years, there has been some move away from rigid interview formats of the past. Indeed some of the interview questions and expected answers have changed also!

The best interview tip is to always assume that the interview is formal and as soons as you meet the interviewer and shake hands – it is game on!

Experienced interviewers can appear very relaxed and laid back. But they are watching your every move and listening very carefully to all your answers. Remain polite and formal during the meetng no matter how informal the setting is.

Best of luck with the next rounds!

PS Feel free to mail me privately if you want any other clarity.

Quick question: How do I know if I have done well or not in an interview. I had one on Thursday and can’t really figure out the body language,

    Thanks
